Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. Feminist Frequency was established by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos featuring commentary and analysis of the representations of women that are prevalent in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency is a site for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. Additionally, she serves as the executive director. Aiming to break down the stereotypes associated with women in pop culture, she is a vocal advocate for issues relating to targeted exploitation of women as well as other classes of the Internet environment. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. Apart from being a well-known public speaker, she has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism at a young time. In 2009, while in university she started her Feminist Frequency website. She was a young woman who wanted to create an online series to examine the gender roles in video games. In the end, she ended up being the victim of online harassment. This attack didn't stop her, but instead strengthened her determination as feminist media critic. As a result of the many contributions she has made to feminism, she is the recipient of numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media journalist. She is also the director and founder of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organisation that studies pop culture representations of females.
