She was a major and was graduated in the theatre department at Northwestern University with a theatre degree. The fall of 1988 was the time when Gunn went on a study abroad to take classes at the British American Drama Academy. Pamela Adlon and Gunn shared an apartment in the Laurel Canyon area after moving there. Gunn was famous for playing Skyler White on Breaking, the AMC show Breaking. In the years 2013 and 2014, she was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award Outstanding Supporting Actress in an Drama Series.
